IndyCar Races

IndyCar is a car racing league which combines the road-style and street-circuit races you see in F1 with oval racing typically with NASCAR

While IndyCar racing does bring some international flair, only five countries have hosted IndyCar events: The United States, Japan, Canada, Australia and Brazil.

There are 17 IndyCar races that make up the sport’s season. However, unlike F1 and NASCAR, there are sometimes two to three-week breaks between each race on the IndyCar calendar.

IndyCar Races

The cars go through multiple inspections before and after every race. Before placing a bet, find out the rules from your sportsbook. Some pay out as soon as the race is over, while the results are considered unofficial. It isn’t until after the post-race inspection of the cars are the results official.

Other books will wait for the official results, which sometimes won’t be until hours after the race. In that case, it is possible for a car to cross the finish line in first place but be disqualified following post-race inspection.

Each race is different and certain drivers may perform better on particular types of tracks compared to others, so it’s important to remember not all races are created equal when looking to bet on IndyCar drivers.

The three drivers that cross the finish line first are differentiated by 10 and five points. Fourth to 10th are separated by two points while 11th-25th are separated by one point. The winner of the IndyCar series at the end of the season receives $1 million.

IndyCar Races - FAQs

How does Round 1 of IndyCar qualifying work?

In Round 1 of road and street course qualifying, all cars are divided into two groups. Each group gets a specific time on the track, and the fastest six cars from each group advance to the next round.

How does Round 2 of IndyCar qualifying work?

Round 2 involves the remaining 12 cars from Round 1. They have a designated time to set their fastest laps, and the six fastest cars move on to the final round.

What is the Fast Six in IndyCar qualifying?

The Fast Six is the final round of qualifying on road and street courses. The six fastest drivers from Round 2 compete to determine their starting positions for the race.

What are the different qualifying formats for road/street courses and oval courses?

On road and street courses, qualifying involves multiple rounds with knockout-style sessions to determine the starting order. On oval courses, drivers make timed attempts to set the fastest average speed across a set number of laps.
