Mexican Champ Headlines Alvarez vs Charlo Betting Odds

The Super Fight is Almost Here

The superfight between Canelo Alvarez and Jermell Charlo happens this Saturday, and Alvarez vs Charlo betting odds are out.

It’s one of the most significant boxing events of 2023, and it’s Alvarez who dominates the betting markets at -400.

The Mexican is keen to establish himself as the undisputed middleweight champion at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Date & Time:
Location: T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas
Streaming: Showtime PPV

Canelo Eyes Glory

There is no more active, decorated boxer than Alvarez; he should fancy his chances against Charlo.

The clear favorite with Alvarez vs Charlo betting odds is still only 33 years old, despite having a 59-2-2 record, which is mind-boggling.

The Mexican has stood the test of time and has been at the top of the division for a long time, which can’t be overlooked. It’s one thing to rise to the top and win titles, but he has stayed there for many years.

Better fighters than Charlo have come and gone, but pundit Johnny Nelson believes Charlo poses a challenge for the champion, according to the latest boxing news.

“Don’t be surprised if Charlo is the guy that manages to pickpocket Canelo. Canelo is an outstanding fighter, another fighter who’s not the fighter he was but still beats 98% of fighters in the world,” Nelson said.

“Charlo on the other hand, I’m starting to really favor him to pull it off. I think he has all the ingredients to do that.”

Alvarez wasn’t at his best when beating John Ryder earlier this year, but he didn’t have to be. He won the fight by decision, and Ryder barely took a round off him according to the judges.

Losing to Dmitri Bivol was a surprise, but Alvarez deserves all the accolades he gets, and we’re not surprised by the odds.

Can Charlo Handle the Occasion?

Facing Alvarez isn’t like any fight Charlo has had so far on his boxing schedule.

The American, who boasts a 35-1-1 record, hasn’t fought someone as mentally and physically tough as Canelo, so we’re intrigued as to how this fight will pan out.

Credit must be given to Charlo for his impressive record. However, it’s evident that he hasn’t faced opponents of the same caliber as Alvarez.

“He’s a fighter that hits hard. He’s a good boxer that knows how to use distance. That’s what makes him dangerous,” said Alvarez.

His most recent fight was a knockout victory over Brian Carlos Castano in a rematch last May, and he hasn’t stepped into the ring since.
This extended period of inactivity raises significant concerns, especially considering what’s on the line this Saturday.

Over the past four years, Charlo has only fought four times, despite boasting 19 knockout victories in his career.

It’s worth noting that in 2018, Charlo suffered a decision loss to Tony Harrison. Since then, he has shown improvement, but having such losses on his record isn’t ideal.

Additionally, Charlo is moving up in weight class, a transition that is never straightforward.

There appear to be more questions than answers surrounding Charlo’s chances, and the +300 underdog could be on the back foot from the outset.

In Alvarez We Trust

We’re happy to take short odds for Alvarez. We can’t see him being beaten by Charlo, and his experience should be too much.

The -400 is worth including in your boxing bets, but there is good value elsewhere, and it comes with the under 10.5 rounds.

Over has been backed into -320, so most bettors expect the title fight to go the distance. However, we see Alvarez landing some telling body shots throughout the fight, which could send Charlo to the canvas.

He works the body better than most boxers and the Alvarez vs Charlo betting odds of +245 is too good to pass up.

Alvarez is also +240 to win by KO or TKO, so that option is worth including in your selections.
