EPL Matchday 22 Odds: City Head to Tottenham

Winter Transfer Window Drama Over

Guardiola vs Conte as Man City Head to Tottenham

There was a lot of late transfer window drama in the English Premier League. The moves that were made will certainly have an impact on how the rest of the season goes. Arsenal managed to poach midfielder Jorginho from Chelsea and Tottenham signed ‘right back’ Pedro Porro from Sporting. Porro could certainly play a part as Spurs host Manchester City in a big match on Sunday. Chelsea also managed to seal the deal of the window by signing highly-rated midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Benfica. We’ll see if any of these new signings make their debuts as we review the EPL Matchday 22 betting odds.

Match of the Week

TOT Tottenham vs Manchester City MCI

Date & Time:

Tottenham vs. Manchester City has been one of the most exciting matchups of the last few seasons. These teams met just a few weeks ago and City overturned a 2-0 deficit to win 4-2. Spurs won both meetings last season but City have won three of the last five, in all competitions.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City enter this match as -135 ATS and moneyline favorites, according to the EPL Matchday 22 betting odds. Antonio Conte’s future at Tottenham past this season is uncertain but that didn’t stop Spurs from splashing the cash in the transfer window.

Tottenham bolstered their squad by signing right back Pedro Porro and winger Arnaut Danjuma in January. Porro should be able to slot in right away while Danjuma joins an already crowded attack.

Versatile Man City defender Joao Cancelo is on his way to Bayern Munich on loan. Young talent Rico Lewis should get more time at ‘right back’ and Nathan Ake can continue to play ‘left back’. Spurs have won their last four home matches vs. Man City but are +325 underdogs heading into this one. Tottenham +½ also comes in at +115 odds and a draw displays +320 odds.

Man City showed their resolve to shut out Arsenal 1-0 in the FA Cup last Friday and certainly need a win here to stay in the title race. They’re currently five points behind leaders Arsenal and the Gunners have a game in hand. Spurs have done well vs. City in recent seasons but Erling Haaland has added a completely new element to contend with. He’ll be tough to handle and he scored in the reverse fixture. Incredibly, he has 25 goals so far this season and is always a threat to get on the scoresheet. That said, under three goals does sit at -120 odds for this match. Manchester City haven’t scored at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since 2018.

Other Matches to Watch

CHE Chelsea vs Fulham FUL

Date & Time:

Chelsea signed World Cup-winning midfielder Enzo Fernandez for an EPL record £115 million on Tuesday. Todd Boehly and Chelsea have signed an astounding eight new players during the transfer window. Fernandez, the World Cup’s best young player, joins Benoit Badiashile, David Fofana, Joao Felix, Noni Madueke, Mykhailo Mudryk, Andrey Santos and Malo Gusto on the Blues.

A completely new look Chelsea team will take on Fulham on Friday. Meanwhile, the Cottagers brought in Cedric Soares from Arsenal on loan and Sasa Lukic from Torino on a permanent deal. Believe it or not, it’s Fulham who are currently higher in the English Premier League standings. They sit in seventh place, while Chelsea are in tenth heading into Matchday 21. Still, Chelsea are one-goal favorites heading into this West London Derby.

A few weeks ago, at Craven Cottage, Fulham got their first win over Chelsea since 2006. Willian scored against his former club and Carlos Vinicius also found the net in the 2-1 win. You’ll have to go all the way back to 1964 to find Fulham’s last away win at Chelsea.

The Cottagers sit at +470 odds to win but are favored to cover the spread, at -120 odds. Chelsea -1 shows even odds and the Blues sit at a -175 price to win the match. None of the last eight meetings have finished in draws but one comes in at +320 odds here.

Fulham have been shutout in their last two EPL games but haven’t lost by more than one goal since October. Chelsea have also struggled to score lately, with three goals in the last five Premier League matchdays’, but over 2½ goals displays -115 odds.

EVE Everton vs Arsenal ARS

Date & Time:

Struggling Everton confirmed that Sean Dyche would take over as their next head coach on Monday. The former Burnley boss is getting thrown into the fire by having to face Premier League leaders Arsenal in his first match in charge. Plus, Arsenal got some midfield cover in the market by signing Jorginho from Chelsea on a one-and-a-half year deal.

He should certainly help in the Gunners’ title charge as they hold a five-point lead over Manchester City. With Thomas Partey day-to-day, Jorginho could even start on Saturday. Arsenal are 1½-goal road favorites heading into Saturday’s match and sit at +120 odds to cover. However, Sean Dyche managed to frustrate Arsenal as Burnley manager. In his last five matches vs. Arsenal, he’s 1-3-1 and only one of those games even had two goals scored.

So, it’s not surprising Everton show -140 odds to cover the spread and keep things close. They’ll certainly be hoping for a new manager bump in Dyche’s first match. Even so, Arsenal, who are coming off EPL wins vs. Manchester United and Tottenham, are -245 favorites.

The Toffees, who are currently in the relegation zone, are +700 underdogs. Meanwhile, a draw sits at +370 odds. With an 8-1-1 record, Arsenal have been excellent on the road this season. Everton failed to win any of their last 10 matches under Frank Lampard, in all competitions, going a dreadful 0-2-8. Everton have given up at least two goals in their last four matches, in all competitions, and over 2½ goals displays -125 EPL Matchday 22 betting odds.

MUN Manchester United vs Crystal Palace CRY

Date & Time:

Christian Eriksen left Old Trafford on crutches on Saturday after an Andy Carroll tackle in an FA Cup victory over Reading. The Manchester United midfielder is now out for three months, which is a big blow. Erik ten Hag and United dipped into the transfer market to bring in Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich.

He’s unlikely to provide the same level of creativity but he can certainly play a big role going forward. He could make his debut as United have Crystal Palace on their EPL schedule on Saturday. Especially since fellow midfielder Scott McTominay is out for this one.

The two sides are just a couple weeks removed from a 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park. United enter the match as 1½-goal favorites and show +115 odds to cover.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace had a busy deadline day of their own and brought in two midfielders. Albert Sambi Lokonga joined on loan from Arsenal and Palace signed Naouirou Ahamada from Stuttgart. Palace defender Joachim Andersen missed their 0-0 draw vs. Newcastle but is expected to be fit for this one. With that in mind, CPFC come in at -135 odds to cover the spread but just +750 odds to win the match.

They have lost just once in their last five matches vs. Manchester United, though, and have won at Old Trafford in two of the last three seasons. The odds board also lists a draw at +375 odds and over 2½ goals at -125 odds. Each of the last four meetings have finished with two goals or fewer, though.
