Manchester Clubs in Action Midweek
Premier League teams are slowly but surely getting around to playing their matches that were postponed by the death of Queen Elizabeth II. This week, both Manchester clubs play their Matchday 7 games following an exciting Manchester Derby. Manchester United produced a comeback win over rivals Manchester City to win their fifth straight Premier League match. Now, the Red Devils are only one point behind City in the table and may even be in the title race. We’ll take a look at the EPL Matchday 7 odds from the two midweek matches.
Matchday 20 Recap:
Two massive matches headlined the weekend’s Premier League schedule and they didn’t disappoint. On Saturday, Manchester United came back from 1-0 down to defeat Manchester City 2-1. Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford scored United’s goal in a huge win for Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils. United are now fourth in the EPL standings, just one point behind second place City.
In Sunday’s much-anticipated North London Derby, Arsenal took care of business at Tottenham and won 2-0. Captain Martin Odegaard was outstanding once again and got on the scoresheet. With the win, Mikel Arteta’s Gunners went eight points clear at the top of the table. Arsenal continue to prove that their form is far from a fluke. They missed out on long-term target Mykhailo Mudryk in the transfer market but are firing on all cylinders.
One of the standout results from Matchday 20 was Brighton’s dominant 3-0 win over Liverpool. Solly March scored twice as the +250 Premier League betting underdogs had a field day. Even with leading scorer Leandro Trossard frozen out of the side, Brighton didn’t miss a beat. Roberto de Zerbi’s Seagulls are European contenders and certainly a team to watch for the rest of the season. Brentford are also playing their way into European consideration and are unbeaten in their last seven matches.
There were also some incredibly consequential matches between teams near the bottom of the table. Wolves escaped the relegation zone and sent West Ham into it with a 1-0 win over the Hammers at the Molineux. Everton also slipped into 19th place by losing to last place Southampton, 2-1. Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest are also doing their best to stay up, with seven points in their last three matches. Two goals from Brennan Johnson were enough for Forest to take down Leicester City on Saturday.

Crystal Palace vs Manchester United

While Manchester United got a big win over the weekend, Crystal Palace fell 1-0 to Chelsea. Key Palace defender Joachim Andersen left Sunday’s match in the 38th minute and it’s unclear whether he’ll be able to play on Wednesday. It’s not good news for Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace, who have lost four of their last five EPL matches. While Palace have struggled, Manchester United have been on an absolute tear. Marcus Rashford has scored in his last seven matches in all competitions. United are also on a nine-game winning streak in all competitions and are getting back to their best.
Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro have been instrumental in Manchester United’s success as of late. United are favorites to add to their winning streak and come in at -125 ATS and moneyline EPL Matchday 7 odds. Crystal Palace, who haven’t won at home since October, are listed at just +340 odds to win the match. They also show a +105 price against the ½-goal spread. However, Palace have won three of their last six Premier League matches vs. Manchester United. A draw also displays a +275 price.
Palace have struggled to score goals since the World Cup break ended, though. They’ve been shutout in three of their four matches since then and have scored just two goals. The last three times this fixture has been played, there has only been one goal or fewer. Both over and under 2½ goals sit at -110 odds for this one. Man United’s team could look very similar to the one they trotted out vs. Manchester City last Saturday. Defender Diogo Dalot is working his way back from a muscle issue and Aaron Wan-Bissaka could start again at right back.
Manchester City vs Tottenham

It’s rare that Manchester City and Tottenham fall during the same weekend but they were both on the losing end of their recent derby matches. That makes Thursday’s match between the two sides a crucial one. Two-time defending champions Manchester City now find themselves eight points behind Arsenal in the title race and need all of the wins they can get. Tottenham, on the other hand, are five points outside of the top four. Spurs have actually gotten the better of City in recent seasons but the Cityzens are big favorites for Thursday’s match.
Pep Guardiola’s side head into the match as 1½-goal favorites at even odds to cover the spread. They also show -265 odds to win at the Etihad, where they lost 3-2 to Spurs last season. City also lost to Southampton in the EFL Cup last week. It marks the first time they’ve lost consecutive matches in all competitions since August 2021. At 7-1-1, City have an excellent record when playing at home in the EPL this season, though.

Tottenham created a lot of chances vs. Arsenal but couldn’t put the ball in Aaron Ramsdale’s net. Heung-Min Son certainly hasn’t been in top form but getting Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski back from injury ads attacking depth. Harry Kane is also currently the second-leading scorer in the EPL. Spurs +1½ shows -120 odds for the match and they’ve won four of their last five EPL matches vs. Man City.
So, punters may be willing to take a chance on Spurs at +600 EPL Matchday 7 odds. A draw could also look appealing at +455 odds. Interestingly, over three goals sits at -125 odds for the match. That certainly could have something to do with the fact that Tottenham have conceded at least twice in eight of their last nine Premier League games. At the very least, there should be opportunities for both sides in this one.
