Valorant Masters Tokyo: More than bragging rights on the line

A Sneak Peek into the Fierce Valorant Masters Tokyo Playoffs

The top eight teams at Valorant Masters Tokyo, one of the top esports events of the year, will fight for Valorant glory when the competition shifts to the playoffs this weekend.

Valorant Masters Tokyo playoffs will feature the top-seeded teams from the Pacific, Americas, and EMEA regions who advanced to the upper bracket quarterfinals when they won their respective international league.

In addition, since Fnatic won VCT LOCK//IN, the runner-up in the EMEA League will join the international league champions in the upper bracket quarterfinals.

The eight lower-seeded teams battled each other in the group stage for the four remaining playoff spots. The eight teams were split into two groups where they competed in a best-of-three double-elimination bracket.

Qualified Teams

Evil Geniuses was the first team to qualify for the Valorant Masters Tokyo playoffs from Group A. The North American squad is on a hot streak, winning against FUT Esports 2-0 in their opening match. They then took a 2-0 victory over Korean powerhouse squad DRX in their group’s winners’ match.

NRG Esports was the second team to qualify for the playoffs from Group B. Ardis “ardiis” Svarenieks defeated his former FunPlus Phoenix teammates when NRG won 2-1 against Natus Vincere in their opening match. The North American squad defeated T1 2-1 in the winners’ match.

After losing to EG, DRX qualified for the Valorant Masters Tokyo playoffs after a commanding win over FUT Esports. After failing to impress in the first match, DRX returned and showed why they are one of the best Valorant teams in the world. The Korean Giants hope to continue this run through to the Grand Final.

EDward Gaming had a tough opening loss against T1 after close scores in every round. After that, they showed up and dominated every team they played to qualify for the playoffs. If EDward Gaming continues its form, it could be a dark horse going through the Valorant Masters Tokyo!

Here are all eight teams competing in the Valorant Masters Tokyo playoffs, along with their esports odds.

Valorant Masters Tokyo Format

The 12 teams were split into two groups. The winners of the international leagues advance to the playoffs, while the rest begin their run in the group stage. Since the EMEA region has four representatives for winning VCT LOCK//IN, the runner-up squad will advance to the playoffs.

The eight teams outside the playoffs will go through a double-elimination group stage, each playing in a four-team double-elimination bracket. The top two teams with the best record from each group will advance to the playoffs.

The four teams that advance from the group stage will be randomly placed in the playoff bracket. In addition, teams from the same group will be placed on the opposite of the bracket to avoid rematches in the early stages of the playoffs.

All Valorant Masters Tokyo will be a best-of-three, except for the lower bracket final and grand final, which will be a best-of-five.
