MLB Wednesday Recap: Dogs Bite Back

Unders Go 9-5 on Day

The MLB Wednesday Recap shows underdogs bounced back in a big way with a 9-5 record. Flat-betting $100 on all 14 underdogs returned a profit of $712 for the day. Underdogs were solid during the month of May, going 180-199 in all games. That returned a profit of $4,029 for the month.

Totals were just 5-9, as there were some solid pitching performances. For the month of May, totals were 201-200-13, so the sportsbooks have done a decent job setting lines. For the MLB season, totals are 405-399-33. You’re not going to get more balanced than that.

Ohtani Ends Slump in Big Way

Shohei Ohtani was in the middle of a 2 for 20 slump but broke out of it in a big way. He belted a pair of home runs and knocked in four runs to help the Angeles to a 12-5 win over the White Sox. Still, it was a rough May for Ohtani, who hit just .243. He belted eight home runs and knocked in 20 runs. The Angels were +124 but led 8-1 after four innings and cruised to the win.

Rays Rally Late Against Cubs

The MLB Wednesday Recap shows Tampa Bay was able to avoid the sweep against the Cubs. Chicago led 2-0 entering the seventh. Brandon Lowe hit a two-run homer to tie the game. After the Cubs recaptured the lead with a run in the seventh, Jose Siri belted a two-run homer in the eighth. Tampa Bay leads Baltimore by 4.0 games in the AL East and still has the best of all MLB records.

Naylor Powers Guardians to Victory

Josh Naylor had a huge day at the plate, driving in six runs to help Cleveland to a 12-8 win over Baltimore. The total on the game was 8.5, but the Orioles led 7-6 after four innings. Naylor’s three-run double in the top of the fifth put Cleveland ahead for good.

Nationals Power Past Dodgers

The MLB Wednesday Recap shows the Washington Nationals hit five home runs to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-6. Washington was a +200 underdog in the game. Keibert Ruiz hit two home runs for the Nats, while Mookie Betts had two of the Dodgers’ three homers. Washington sealed the win with five runs in the last two innings.

Marlins Walk Off Against Padres

The San Diego Padres led 1-0 at Miami entering the bottom of the ninth. But the Marlins scored a pair of runs to steal the win away. Jean Segura and Nick Fortes both had run-scoring singles against Josh Hader in the ninth. It was the first loss of the season for Hader, who entered the game with a 0.82 ERA.

Mariners Blank Yankees

After watching the Yankees score 10 runs in each of the first two games, Seattle’s George Kirby went out and threw eight shutout innings against New York. Kirby was coming off his worst start of the season but quickly made amends. The Yankees managed just three hits off Kirby and two relief pitchers. The Mariners weren’t able to score until Cal Raleigh’s RBI single in the 10th to take the 1-0 victory.
