Although there are just four Big 12 games on the schedule, when it comes to the Big 12 Week 8 betting odds two of them are battles between Big 12 ranked teams.

The winner of the Kansas State-Texas Christian game will have sole possession of first place in the conference standings while Texas and Oklahoma State meet knowing that the loser of that game will fall two games out of first place in the Big 12 standings. It should make for quite the action-packed slate of contests as the college football on Saturday has some compelling Big 12 matchups.

Kansas, one of the darlings of the college football world earlier in the season, will look to avoid a three-game losing streak when the Jayhawks travel to meet the defending Big 12 champion Baylor.

Don’t be shocked to see plenty of points when West Virginia and Texas Tech get together.

Oklahoma and Iowa State, who are at the bottom of the Big 12 standings, both have much-needed bye weeks.

TCU moved up seven spots in the American Football Coaches Association poll and five slots in the Associated Press ranking and are eighth in both national polls. Oklahoma State is currently at No. 11 followed by Kansas State (17th in both rankings) and Texas (20th in the AP ranking and 21st in the coaches’ poll).

Texas (+165) has the best odds to win the Big 12 title according to the sportsbook followed by TCU (+220) and Kansas State (+285).

The college football playoff odds have Texas Christian (+6000) tied for seventh in the odds to win the national title.

Game of the Week

Kansas State Wildcats vs Texas Christian Horned Frogs

Both Kansas State (5-1) and TCU (6-0) are 3-0 in conference play so the winner of this game will have sole possession of first place in the Big 12.

The game features three of the top five rushers in the conference. Kansas State’s Deuce Vaughn has 661 yards and quarterback Adrian Martinez had 546. They have combined for 12 TD runs. TCU’s Kendre Miller had 578 yards and eight touchdown runs.

TCU is coming off hard-earned wins over Kansas and Oklahoma State. Max Duggan threw for two scores and ran for another against the Cowboys.

He could see plenty of Kansas State’s Felix Anudike-Uzomah, who leads the Big 12 with 6.5 sacks.

Kansas State has won the last three matchups with TCU, although two of them have finished as one-score games. Each of the last six meetings went under the NCAAF odds total.

Kansas Jayhawks vs Baylor Bears

Seeing defending Big 12 champion Baylor (3-3, 1-2) tied for sixth in the conference standings doesn’t look right. The Bears are coming off a stunning loss to West Virginia when Baylor allowed a season-high 500 yards. Although neither Kansas nor Baylor are ranked this week, when it comes to the Big 12 Week 8 betting odds, this is still a game garnering plenty of attention.

There was nothing wrong with the offense with the Bears rolling up 590 yards, the most against an FBS opponent since a 2018 bowl game against Vanderbilt.

Baylor quarterback Blake Shapen’s status for this game is up in the air. The passing offense struggled when Kyron Drones came in for Shapen against West Virginia.

Kansas (5-2, 2-2) knows something about injured quarterbacks. Jalon Daniels missed last week’s loss to Oklahoma and has thrown just 24 passes over the last three games.

Jason Bean is completing 64% of his passes, however, he does not offer the running threat that Daniels does for Kansas.

Baylor is going after its 13th straight win against Kansas. The Bears have covered against the spread in 11 of those victories. Over the last three years, Baylor has outscored Kansas 153-27.

West Virginia Mountaineers vs Texas Tech Red Raiders

Texas Tech leads the Big 12 in passing offense, averaging 365 yards per game. The Red Raiders attempt the most passes (50.7) of any team in the country. Texas Tech has thrown the most interceptions (10) and committed the most turnovers (13) of any team in the conference. However, West Virginia is tied for the conference low with six takeaways.

West Virginia’s J.T. Daniels is attempting the second-most passes in the Big 12.

Keep an eye on the Texas Tech quarterback situation with Donovan Smith only attempting one pass in the loss to Oklahoma State. The bye week allowed Smith to get healthier so the Red Raiders could have three proven QBs to call upon with Smith joined by Behren Morton and Tyler Shough.

Texas Tech has won three in a row against West Virginia and covered in each of those contests.

Texas Longhorns vs Oklahoma State Cowboys

In almost any other week, this would be the game of the week in the Big 12.

Neither Texas (5-2, 3-1) nor Oklahoma State (5-1, 2-1) can afford another loss in conference play.

Oklahoma State’s Spencer Sanders leads the conference with an average of 273.2 passing yards per game. However, he is completing just 58.5% of his passes.

Quinn Ewers has seven TD passes and only one interception in the two games since he returned to action.

The Cowboys lead the conference with 54 tackles for loss and are tied for the conference lead with 17 sacks. Tyler Lacy leads the way with 8.5 TFLs and he is one of four Oklahoma State players with three sacks.

Texas has allowed just nine sacks in seven games so that is factoring into the  Big 12 Week 8 betting odds favoring Texas.

Oklahoma State has won five of the last seven meetings with Texas, however, the last time the teams met in Stillwater, it was visiting Texas coming away with the seven-point win in 2020 as a 3.5-point underdog.
