Juventus Get Fatal 15-Point Deduction

It’s been a brutal last few weeks for Juventus fans. After falling 5-1 to Napoli on Matchday 18, Juve were deducted 15 points for misconduct in their transfer dealings. La Vecchia Signora have gone from title contenders to a mid-table side virtually overnight. At the same time, Napoli just keep on winning and have created space between themselves and their Serie A rivals. Napoli’s match vs. Roma is another test for the Partenopei and one of the best matches in any league this weekend. Match of the Week

Victor Osimhen and Napoli have been flying as of late. They sit at -400 odds to win Serie A and may also challenge for the Champions League. The Partenopei defeated Salernitana 2-0 over the weekend and Osimhen got on the scoresheet for the fourth time in the last three Serie A matches. Napoli took a twelve-point lead in the table with their win. Still, Jose Mourinho’s Roma will be a tough test on Sunday. They’re not exactly expected to win this one either, as they sit at +350 odds. Two of the last four meetings between these teams have finished in draws and punters can find another draw at +240 odds. No team has scored more than one goal in this fixture in the last three meetings. Napoli managed to win the reverse fixture 1-0 in October, though, as Osimhen found the net in the 80th minute.

Both teams have been productive offensively, as of late. Napoli have averaged 2.4 goals per game in their last five Serie A matches. Meanwhile, Roma have averaged 1.6 goals per game during that same span. It looks like Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo is set to leave the club this week, though, and he was held out of the 2-0 win over Spezia. Roma defender Zeki Celik is also suspended for the match. Currently, under 2½ goals show a -115 price for the match.

Other Matches to Watch

Should defending champions AC Milan defeat Lazio on Tuesday, they’ll be within nine points of Napoli. It’d be quite a big gap but nothing that can’t be overcome in the last half of the season. Milan are in second place in the Serie A standings and their opponents on Sunday, Sassuolo, are just above the relegation zone. Despite Sassuolo’s poor form, they’ve held their own in this fixture over the last few seasons. In fact, they’re unbeaten in their last three trips to the San Siro to face AC Milan. Still, AC Milan are -290 favorites for Sunday’s match but Sassuolo are implied to be more likely to cover the 1½-goal spread.

They’re +600 underdogs to go on and win the match. Meanwhile a second draw of the season in this fixture displays +400 odds.

AC Milan -1½ shows a +105 price and Sassuolo +1½ comes in at -125 odds. Sassuolo drew 0-0 with AC Milan earlier this season and have won their last two meetings at the San Siro. Still, they’re +600 underdogs to go on and win the match. Meanwhile a second draw of the season in this fixture displays +400 odds. Sassuolo snapped a five-game losing streak by drawing with Monza 1-1 on Sunday but haven’t won since October. They’ve also scored just three goals in their last five Serie A matches. In any case, over three goals comes in at -125 odds.

Juventus are out of the title race with the news of their point deduction. It remains to be seen whether there will be January departures from the club with Champions League football next season in serious doubt. After drawing 3-3 with Atalanta on Sunday, Juve now take on Monza in Serie A. This is the second meeting in a ten-day span as Juventus recently defeated Monza 2-1 in the Coppa Italia. Juve striker Dusan Vlahovic is also expected to return from a sports hernia in time for Sunday’s match.

Monza are currently unbeaten in their last five Serie A matches, which includes draws with Inter and Fiorentina. A draw here displays +280 odds and Juventus are priced at -200 odds to win their eighth home game of the season. Juve have given up eight goals in their last two matches after an eight-game shutout streak and over 2½ goals show a -115 price.

Lazio have dominated in this fixture over the last few seasons. The Biancocelesti have won six of the last seven meetings and have outscored Fiorentina 8-0 in the last three. Lazio will most likely be missing striker Ciro Immobile, who has scored in the last two meetings. Fiorentina have struggled to get on the scoresheet lately, with consecutive shutout losses. Fiorentina also show a +240 price to win the match but have only won two road games so far this season.
