Serie A Matchday 31 Odds: Expert Predictions and Preview

Rome Clubs Excelling

Top Four Far From Settled

With eight matches to go, the Serie A top-four race is still very much wide open. Napoli and Lazio certainly look like they’ll be playing Champions League football next season. However, the last two places are up for grabs. Roma has been in good form lately and entered the weekend in third. Scudetto holders AC Milan have stumbled in recent weeks but still occupy fourth over rivals Inter. Atalanta, Juventus, and Bologna are still in the mix. We’ll take a closer look at the top four race as we preview the Serie A Matchday 31 odds.

Games of the Week

JUVJuventus vs NapoliNAP

Day/Time:
Location: Allianz Stadium

Napoli is still firmly in first place in the Serie A standings. The Partenopei haven’t sealed the title yet but they get closer and closer with each passing week. They have a big match at Juventus on Sunday’s Serie A schedule. First, Luciano Spalletti and Napoli’s attention will be turned toward Tuesday’s Champions League match vs AC Milan.

Napoli needs a one-goal win over Milan to force extra time with Min-Jae Kim and Frank Anguissa suspended. They’re both key players and should be fresh for Sunday’s match. While Napoli plays on Tuesday, Juventus take on Sporting in Portugal on Thursday in the Europa League.

With just two days of rest before the match vs Napoli, Juve is +180 underdogs here. The odds list the match as a pick’em, though. Hosts Juve come in at -105 odds to cover, while Napoli sits at -115 ATS odds. In the reverse fixture, Napoli demolished Juventus, 5-1, and is unbeaten in the last three meetings.

Juventus has been solid this season, despite their seventh-place standing. They have the third-best record in Serie A but a 15-point deduction is putting European football in doubt next season. They have lost their last two Serie A matches, though.

Napoli’s moneyline odds are +160 to hand Juve a third straight league loss. Both teams have performed well on defense this season. They’re two of just four teams who have conceded fewer than a goal per game this season. Regardless, over two goals display -150 odds for this match. Napoli would be one step closer to the Serie A title even with a draw, and a deadlock sits at +220 odds here.

ATAAtalanta vs RomaROM

Day/Time:
Location: Gewiss Stadium

With three straight Serie A wins, Jose Mourinho’s Roma is in a solid position in Serie A. They’re in third place, five points ahead of fifth-placed Inter Milan. The Giallorossi have quite a difficult match ahead of them on Monday as they head to Atalanta.

Currently, in sixth place, Atalanta also has dreams of Champions League football but they’ll likely need all three points here. The Serie A Matchday 31 odds price hosts Atalanta as ½-goal favorites heading into Monday’s match. First, Roma needs to overturn a one-goal deficit in the Europa League Quarterfinal vs Feyenoord.

Georginio Wijnaldum and Paulo Dybala are nursing minor injuries for Roma and should be back by Monday. Concerningly, Atalanta’s leading scorer Ademola Lookman missed Monday’s 1-1 draw at Fiorentina. His status is worth monitoring but Atalanta is relatively stacked up front. Rasmus Hojland, Duvan Zapata, and Luis Muriel are all options. Atalanta come in at +125 ATS and moneyline odds and they won the reverse fixture at the Stadio Olimpico.

Meanwhile, AS Roma +½ displays -145 odds and they have one of the best road records in Serie A. Atalanta has been strangely weak at home this season, where they’ve won just six of their 14 matches. Three of those have finished in draws and another shows +230 odds. It’ll be difficult for the hosts to score on Roma as they’ve kept three consecutive shutouts in Serie A. Under 2½ goals are priced at -135 odds for the match as a result.

Other Important Matches

LAZLazio vs TorinoTOR

Day/Time:
Location: Stadio Olimpico

While rivals Roma are on a three-game winning streak, Lazio has one-upped them. The Biancocelesti have won four straight games in Serie A and have conceded just once in their last seven games. They currently have the best defensive record in Serie A, with just 20 goals allowed after 30 matches.

Goalkeeper Ivan Provedel continues to lead the league in shutouts. However, joint-leading scorer Ciro Immobile suffered a rib injury following a car crash over the weekend. That means Lazio will have to do without him on Saturday when they host Torino.

The Serie A odds price Lazio as -110 ATS and moneyline favorites with Immobile out and midfielder Danilo Cataldi suspended. Torino had a decent start to the season but has struggled a bit lately. They’re winless in their last four matches and could only muster a 1-1 draw vs Salernitana on Sunday.

Scoring has been a problem for Il Toro, as they’ve only averaged 0.8 goals per game in their last five matches. They’re also winless in the last seven meetings. However, the last four head-to-head matchups have finished in a draw. Another draw displays +230 odds here.

The oddsmakers are giving Torino a decent shot to cover, as Torino +½ sits at -110 odds. They have managed to pick up points in nine of their 15 away matches this season. Still, they are +350 moneyline underdogs for this one.

Although Lazio has defended exceptionally as of late, they need to watch out for Antonio Sanabria. The Paraguayan has nine goals this season, which leads Torino. The last match between these two teams finished scoreless but both over and under 2½ goals come in at -110 odds.

MILAC Milan vs LecceLEC

Day/Time:
Location: San Siro

AC Milan has drawn their last two Serie A matches but will certainly be expected to get a win on Sunday vs Lecce. Lecce is in 16th place in Serie A, just five points outside of the relegation zone. The Puglian club is winless in their last seven matches but did draw against Sampdoria last weekend.

Before taking on Lecce, Milan head to Napoli on Tuesday for the second leg of the UCL Quarterfinal. Milan will hold on to their one-goal lead for dear life as Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is poised to return.

While Tuesday’s match could be a draining one, Milan gets four days of rest before taking on Lecce. The Serie A Matchday 31 odds list AC Milan as the one-goal favorite for this one. Lecce hasn’t defeated AC Milan since 2006 but the reverse fixture did finish in a 2-2 draw.

Lecce has also done reasonably well on the road this season and conceded just 16 goals in 15 away games. Under 2½ goals display -130 odds here but the Rossoneri do show -115 odds to cover. They’re also -190 moneyline favorites for Sunday’s match at the San Siro.

Meanwhile, Lecce +1 currently sits at -105 odds. Although they’ve been decent on the road this season, Lecce could find it difficult to deal with Milan’s Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud. The visitors enter the match as +600 moneyline underdogs and a drawing show +310 odds. With just a two-point cushion between them and Inter, look for AC Milan to be motivated to get all three points here.
